Events
Poppins has a regular calendar of events taking place most afternoons. Lively and informative with subjects ranging from health, the shipyards to the local over 60’s singing group and… occasionally, special themed events inspired by the archive portal itself. Carol Smillie joined a reunion event about the Lee Jeans Factory ‘sit-in’ – the subject of a BBC Scotland Documentary in the 80s.
Other events included the inside track on the BBC’s Waterloo Road (filmed in Greenock) and a film & TV visual effects session from someone who started his career at the local Greenock Arts Guild. These events bring in young and old.
